Following on from Blog 5 /// Grafham Water Marathon, you may all be saying
“Ok, I know where Grafham Water is (Cambridgeshire)”
“I know what a Marathon is (26.2 mile run)”
“But what on earth is ‘The Chasqui Challenge’…
Well, let me educate you…A chasqui played a fundamental role in the Inca Empire. They formed the empire’s communication system, racing up and down mountains at amazing speeds, in order to deliver important messages. Teams of Chasquis could transport a message as far as 200 miles in a single day. Chasqui hopefuls underwent a fierce selection process and only the fittest and most able boys would go on to become a legendary messenger.
This summer we want to rally a troop of Chasqui’s to deliver a very different message; one of solidarity, spirit and sacrifice.
